The Band

Kurt Berner

Kurt Berner plays bass and writes songs for SOG. He has an undergraduate degree from Rider University and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University. Kurt has been playing bass since his teens and has always been heavily influenced by blues and R&B based rock and roll. He played in rock bands (with Joyce) in the Lower Bucks club circuit in the ’80′s- the most prominent band being The Vitals. The Holy Spirit has moved Kurt to write songs that reach out to the church body and beyond with the message and teachings of Jesus Christ (strong backbeat included!), and he thanks God every day for this second chance at music. Kurt is married to Joyce and they live in Limerick Township with their beautiful daughter Jolie.

Joyce Berner

Joyce Berner is a vocalist and keyboardist for Spirit of Grace. Joyce started playing piano as a small child. She trained classically at a very early age and continued to study classical piano, voice and flute through college. However, her love for pop and rock music was always dominant in her musical tastes. She played in many different bands throughout the years, the most well-known being the Vitals that recorded and played clubs in the Lower Bucks County area. After a long time away from music, she is very happy to be back, serving the Lord with her gifts. Joyce is married to Kurt and is a happy mom to Jolie.

Sandy Kulick

Back ground vocals and percussion. Sandy first started in music at age 10 with the clarinet. She played it through high school in both the concert as well as the marching band. At 13, she learned the alto sax over a summer so that she could play in the “Jazz Band” in Junior High. She taught herself basic guitar at age 12 and bought her first 12 string guitar at 16 with money she had saved. She frequently played for “folk services” in her church as a teen and it was there that she was first exposed to contemporary Christian music and contemporary worship. Most of her free time during her teenage years was spent in rehearsal – either for concert band, marching band, or for church and the new contemporary worship. Sandy also sang with the senior choir in her home church both as a soloist as well as singing harmonies which are still her favorite. She took a break from music for about 15 years when she married and started her family. She has 2 teenage sons who also are involved in music. The birth of Spirit Of Grace and it’s mission to spread God’s Word was the perfect nudge that she needed to return to music and use it to God’s glory. Today she leads worship every Sunday at the contemporary service as well as providing the background vocals and accessory percussion for Spirit Of Grace.
